The Power of Hands Story

This photograph was taken in May on what would be the last day of my beloved father's life. I knew for several days that dad would not recover from kidney failure. Just six weeks before, my sister and I had admitted dad to a hospital in Wichita, KS because of swollen feet. But as it turned out, dad had bigger problems with cancer. Following surgery we moved dad to Pittsburg, KS so he could be closer to me. I will always cherish those last days we spent together.

Three months before we also lost mom. Mom and dad had been married for 60 years and in all those years they had never been apart on mom's birthday. Mom's 80th birthday was three days after dad's funeral. More than anything dad wanted to be with mom.

Together Again

Together Forever
Three years ago I sat by my husband's bedside as he was recovering from a near fatal motorcycle accident. At the time he could not speak, but has since then shared that he gained strength from my words of encouragement and the touch of my hand. It is a time I will never forget.
